Austin Comic Con ’10: Clare Kramer Interview

Recently, I was able to interview a handful of celebrities that I greatly admire and whose movies I have seen more times then I can count.  One of those celebrities was Clare Kramer, better known as the evil God Glorificus (Glory) on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

T1GN: Can you tell me a little about your new movie “Endure?”

Clare Kramer: “Endure” is a kidnapping movie thats currently on the festival circuit.  I play the victim…for once (laughs). So, I’m kidnapped and the FBI and local police kind of spend the movie tracking me down.

T1GN: After seeing the trailer, I can’t wait to see the movie.

Clare Kramer: Aww, thank you.

T1GN: I hear you’re actually directing your first movie.

Clare Kramer: I am. I actually just finished principle photography.  It’s called “Hard Love.” It’s an “American Pie”-type comedy.  Nicholas Brendon is in it (who I might add I was sitting right next to and am a really big fan of), my friend Bianca Kajlich and Stu Stone; those are kind of the three main people.  It’s a real broad comedy about relationships.  It should be edited and ready for a screenings in about 2 or 3 months.

T1GN: What can you tell me about “The Dead Ones?”  There is no real information out there about the film and the url WhoaretheDeadOnes.com just takes you to the “Arcadia High School” website.  Could you shed a little light on this project?

Clare Kramer: Yeah, that’s kind of the marketing campaign.

T1GN: I am assuming it’s a horror or suspense film from the little easter egg you get when you click on the “Respect” button.

Clare Kramer: Yes, it’s a horror film.  It has kind of a “Sixth Sense” twist to it.  It’s a really interesting piece.  The same director that directed me in “The Thirst,” Jeremy Kasten (he directed two films that I really like “The Attic Expeditions” and “All Souls Day: Dia de los Muertos”), called me to do this film.  I really like working with him so, yeah.  I don’t really want to give too much away because they have been really tight lipped about the project, but it does take place in a high school and, like any good film, more is revealed as the audience watches.

T1GN: I am a huge “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fan and you are one of my favorite villains, and without me nerding out too much, I was wondering what your favorite experience was while filming?

Clare Kramer: I really enjoyed filming the 100th episode.  Filming that episode was probably the best experience I had.

T1GN: Dawn has probably been voted most hated character in the Buffyverse.  Why do you think the writers never let you kill her off?

Clare Kramer: I really don’t know why I never got to kill Dawn. (laughs) I would have liked to. (laughs)

T1GN: I know this is a little off-topic, but I read that you have competed in a triathlon.

Clare Kramer: Yes, I have done a triathlon.

T1GN: I actually started training to take part in one.  Do you have any advice for a first timer?

Clare Kramer: Here’s my advice: don’t train for swimming and don’t train for biking.  Train for the running. (laughs) Maybe do some back to back training, like do some biking then hop off and run a couple of miles and do that.  That’s the hardest transition.  The swimming to the biking wasn’t a hard transition for me because the swimming is over pretty quick.  It’s the middle and the last leg, especially going into the last leg is where your body is like, I have no idea how my body is going to do this. I am so happy that you’re going to do a triathlon because it was such an amazing experience.
